Meditation
Meditation seems to be that word so many of us hear, yet so many decide it is not for them. I have heard from clients, "I can't focus", “I've done it and it changes nothing", “I don't have the time", “I have taken classes and it's just not for me", “I have ADD”. The list goes on. I am passionate about guiding clients through meditation and showing how simple it can be. Meditation can be done any time of the day and anywhere you might be. You don't have to sit cross legged on the floor, burning incense and chanting OM.
Let’s begin simply. I will be sharing other skills for meditation as the blog grows, but for now, simplicity. We all go through life with stresses. These stresses can come from work, home, family, politics, divorces, deaths, bills, financial challenges, health challenges........You might find yourself being angry with others, losing your patience, blaming others, having a panic attack or not sleeping. Walking around with anger that really does not belong to you can have a huge impact on your health and well being. When you start to experience this, take a deep breath in. As you breathe in breathe in the words “I am at peace”. Every breath you take in, tell yourself “I am at peace”, inwardly or out loud, over and over. Then whatever the emotion is, for example anger, as you breathe out, tell yourself inwardly or out loud “I release anger”. If there is a person or a situation that angers you, you could say “I release the anger from ______________.” Breathe in peace, breathe out anger, breathe in peace, breathe out anger. Continue this for at least one minute. You will be surprised how fast your body relaxes. Continue longer if needed. You might have to do this for a few minutes several times in the day. Each time you are telling your body what it needs. Breathing in peace. Releasing anger. Breathing in peace, breathing out anger.
I tell clients to buy a pair of wrist mandala beads. Keep it on your wrist. When challenging times present themselves, take the beads off your wrist, put your thumb and first finger around one of the beads, tell yourself “I am at peace”, Go to the next bead, “I release anger”, next bead, “I am at peace”......continue until you start feeling your body relax and unwind.
